MBC wins NWIRA
On August 18 and 19, 59 rowers from MBC raced under windy conditions in the 108th Annual NWIRA Championship Regatta held in Duluth.
For the third year in a row and for the 33rd time in MBC's 141 years of rowing, the club won the Grand Aggregate NWIRA Championship (Sir Thomas Lipton Cup), scoring more than twice as many points as the second place club, Duluth Rowing Club. In addition, MBC took top place in the Junior’s Division, Women’s Division (Henning Peterson Trophy), and Men’s Division (Con’Riley Trophy). MBC took third in the Master’s Division behind Minneapolis and Duluth.
As champion of the Northwest, MBC won the following events:
- Master Women's Single (Under 50)
- Light Weight Men's Single
- Open Men's Quad
- Master Men's Single (Under 50)
- Junior Women's Quad

- Junior Men's Double
- Open Men's Four
- Master Women's Double
- Junior Women's Four w/Cox
- Junior B Women's Double

Due to unsafe rowing conditions in the afternoon on both days, regatta officials cancelled 12 events. They also cancelled final for 10 events, rolled up heat entries of these events as final and ranked boats in the event based on their finishing time.
Congratulations to all the competing rowers!
