Tom Perry

Tom Perry is the Minnesota Boat Club's first Coaching and Programs Director. Tom Perry is a MBC and University of Minnesota Men’s Crew Alumni and coach and national, NWIRA and Canadian Henley championship rower. He brings not only his experience with rowing at a high level but organizational and technical skills obtained as Facilities Manager and Rigger for the University of Minnesota women’s rowing program. Tom is responsible for the development of MBC athletes and for establishing the culture and direction of coaching delivery.

Miriam Baer

Junior Team Head Coach

Miriam is an institution at MBC. She has coached both locally and on an international level (World University Games). She has been central to the success of Olympians, World, Elite National , Junior National and Canadian Henley Champions.  

Kyle Filen

Club Team Coach

Kyle began rowing in high school with the Fox Valley Rowing Club out of Appleton, Wisconsin, and went on to row with Lawrence University. Kyle coached the novice team at Lawrence in 2011. While at Lawrence, Kyle was elected to the board as Finance Chair as well as men's team Captain.

Matt Franke 

Coach for Novice Team, Assistant Coach for Women's Competitive Team

Matt is in his fifth year of coaching the Novice Program at MBC. Matt was a coxswain for the prestigious University of Wisconsin Men's Rowing Team then continued his success at MBC accumulating many NWIRA, Canadian Henley and Head of the Charles Medals (along with quite a few swims).   

Coaching Opportunities

MBC Coaching Internship Program

The Minnesota Boat Club's Coaching Internship program is now taking applications for the 2011 summer rowing season. The Coaching Internship Program is a way for rowers to get experience coaching under the leadership of the Minnesota Boat Club's exceptional coaching staff.

Applicants should have previous rowing experience, a desire to develop their coaching skills to coach rowing in the future, and be able to attend three evening practices a week from June-August.
